Terms of Service

These terms apply to training, courses, and services provided by Defensive Training Services ("we", "us", "our"), and to the use of this website to browse or register for them. By registering for a class you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and anyone you register.

Who may register

To register for and attend a class you must:

• Be at least 18 years old, or be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.
• Meet any age, licensing, certification, or prerequisite requirement stated in the class description, and be legally permitted to take part where the class is held.
• Provide accurate registration details, including any identification the class or venue requires.

We may verify eligibility and may decline or cancel a registration where we believe attendance would be unsafe or unlawful. Where we cancel for that reason before the class, you are refunded in full.

Registration and payment

• A seat is confirmed when payment is received, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
• Prices are shown in US dollars and are the amount charged at checkout.
• Card payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers are handled by Stripe and are never stored by us or by the platform that runs this site.
• Class fees do not include materials, equipment rental, facility or venue fees, testing, or licensing costs unless the class description says so.

Attendance, safety, and conduct

Training can involve physical activity, specialized equipment, and conditions that carry real risk. Your safety and everyone else's depend on following instruction. You agree to:

• Arrive on time and complete any required check-in, briefing, or paperwork.
• Follow all safety rules and every direction given by the instructor or the venue.
• Not attend under the influence of alcohol or any substance that impairs judgment or coordination.
• Tell the instructor before the class about any condition, injury, or limitation that affects your ability to take part safely.
• Use only equipment that is safe, permitted, and appropriate for the class.

An instructor may remove anyone from a class for unsafe conduct, for behavior that disrupts the class, or for being unfit to participate. Removal on those grounds does not entitle you to a refund.

Waivers and assumption of risk

You may be asked to read and sign a separate waiver, release, or assumption-of-risk agreement before taking part, either by us or by the venue. That document is separate from these terms and is not replaced or limited by them. If you are unwilling to sign it, you will not be able to attend, and we will refund your fee.

Changes and cancellations by us

We may reschedule or cancel a class for weather, venue availability, instructor illness, insufficient enrollment, or any condition that makes running it unsafe. If we do, you may transfer to another date or receive a full refund, whichever you prefer.

Certificates and outcomes

Where a class offers a certificate of completion, it is issued at the instructor's discretion and only where the requirements of that class have been met. Attending a class does not by itself qualify you for any permit, license, certification, or legal authority unless the class description says so explicitly. Whether an authority, employer, or insurer accepts a certificate is their decision, not ours, and requirements change without notice.

Photography

Photographs or video may be taken during a class for training or promotional use. Tell the instructor before the class starts if you do not wish to appear, and we will accommodate that.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability arising out of a class or your use of this website is limited to the amount you paid for that class. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version published here at the time you register is the version that applies to that registration.
